The dean of students is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive student development program that includes the Campus Center and student activities and the offices of first year student programs, health services, international students, multicultural affairs, residential life, and wellness. The dean of students is available to assist students on a wide range of campus life matters.

The dean of the college administers the academic and non-academic programs, services and policies of the college as they apply to individual students. The dean works closely with the class deans and student affairs deans to ensure that the life of the individual at Smith is balanced among academic, social and residential elements.

This office is responsible for food services at the college. All questions pertaining to college dining service - house dining, the Campus Center Café, the Smith College Club, summer dining and special catering should be referred to this office.
