Advancement is responsible for raising funds to support Smith's objectives from alumnae, parents, friends, foundations, corporations and government agencies. Requests for use of the alumnae database must be approved through this office.

The Alumnae Association of Smith College, founded in 1881, provides support to alumnae, undergraduates, and the college. The association provides services and programs to a worldwide network of more than 40,000 alumnae.
