House community advisers (HCA) are responsible for developing community within the house. The HCA is a member of the residence life staff of the college for the term of their service. The HCA is trained as a peer mediator to assist the house community in resolving individual and group conflicts. In addition, they offer ongoing programming initiatives that help to foster a living and learning environment. Other responsibilities of the position include being available in the evenings in case of house emergencies; providing referral resources for counseling and other interpersonal concerns; assisting with house programming; serving as a liaison to the administration; and assisting in upholding and enforcing college policies and procedures.
