The
Office for International Study continues to monitor closely
events around the world with particular attention to the
locations of our Smith JYA programs. At this time, all
programs are continuing with their regular schedule but with
added
safety precautions and restricted group and independent
student travel. Our faculty directors overseas have made
available
counseling services for our students who are finding this
a difficult time. We are encouraging students to maintain
regular, if not daily, contact with their families to assure
them of their welfare.
Evacuation
of students on our JYA programs has not been necessary
in 60 years. The only conditions under which we would attempt
such a procedure would be if evacuation were requested
by either the U.S. Embassy or the State Department. This
action should be considered as a last resort. At such time,
the Office would advise the faculty directors and students
accordingly and notify families. Updates as needed will
be posted here. Contact: studyabroad@smith.edu

information about specific countries, consult U.S.
State Department advisories or the U.S.
embassies worldwide page.
