radical Catholic Feminists of Smith
Radical Catholic Feminists of Smith endeavors to create an open, supportive feminist environment in which topics of a religious and spiritual nature may be discussed outside of a specifically devotional environment. RCFOS also participates in community service and works to promote peace, social justice, and progressive and/or feminist issues. RCFOS offers a caring, inclusive environment dedicated to spiritual development. All are welcome on the journey!
- Radical: From the Latin "radix," meaning "root." We remember our roots and seek change from the ground up.
- Catholic: While we come together within the Catholic faith tradition, we define ourselves as catholic: universal, all-encompassing, all-embracing.
- Feminist: We celebrate the centuries of women's vital contributions to the Church and look to a bright future for Catholic women. We also support all people in their spiritual journeys, and believe in the essential power of equality and community.
The Radical Catholic Feminists of Smith meet Sundays at noon (brunch) in Chase Duckett dining room A with one or more members of the advising team (made up Smith faculty and staff and community members). They collaborate with the Newman Association for annual events like the Advent Dinner, informal social gatherings throughout the Christmas season, and an annual Easter celebration.
