VOTER REGISTRATION

As part of the Higher Education Amendment, this institution must provide you with the opportunity to register to vote. Accordingly, please click on the link below to request a mail-in voter registration form be sent to you. Please note that you may choose between a Massachusetts form and a Federal form. The Federal form may be used to register in most states.

Please note that you CANNOT register to vote via the Internet, but you can request a voter registration form! Then, look for your voter registration form in the mail. Fill out the form completely, and return it to your city or town hall. Further, the address for your city or town hall may also be found at the bottom of the page of the attached link.

Alternatively, you may pick up a Massachusetts registration form at any post office or at the Northampton City Hall, 210 Main St., Room 4.  See below for further information about the current year's election.

If registering to vote as a Northamtpon resident and you live on-campus, your physical address is the name of your house at Smith College.  Your mailing address is your campus box number.  Should you decide to register to vote in Northampton and you are currently registered elsewhere, you will be removed from the voter list in that city ot town.

Remember: you will not be registered to vote until you return the completed voter registration form to your local city or town hall. The local clerk will thereafter provide you with acknowledgement of your voter registration; if you do not receive an acknowledgment of your voter registration within a reasonable time, please check with your local clerk for more information.

Information for the 2008 election
The deadline to register to vote in Massachusetts for the November elections is October 15, 2008.  The Northampton Registrar of Voters office will be open on October 15th until 8 p.m. to assist with voter registration in Massachusetts.  Mail-in registration forms, not requests, must be received or postmarked by this date.
