The
Office of the Registrar maintains the permanent academic records
for students enrolled in Undergraduate and/or Graduate programs
(except Social Work programs). The transcript contains: student
name, ID number, dates of attendance, courses taken, grades,
major, and for classes of 1995 and beyond, semester and cumulative
GPA. The transcript may also contain: transfer or AP credits,
a second major, a minor, honors (e.g., Dean's list), thesis
title, degree and date awarded, and teacher certification
statement.
Please
note: Students enrolled in the MSW and PhD programs should
contact the Smith College School
for Social Work to obtain copies of their academic records.
Requesting
Transcripts:
Currently
enrolled students can view their unofficial transcripts through
BannerWeb. For a paper copy, simply print from your Web browser.
To protect your confidentiality, BannerWeb transcripts do
not print your name and ID number.
Alumnae who do not have access
to BannerWeb should follow the procedures outlined below.
In
accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act of 1974, Smith College will not release a student's transcript
to a third party (including parents) without the prior written
consent of the student. Because a transcript request must
be made in writing and include the student's signature,
we cannot accept requests by telephone.
Transcript
request forms are available at the Office of the Registrar, College Hall
Room 102. Alternatively, letters which include the following
information are
acceptable:
Fax requests to: Office of
the Registrar, (413) 585-2557.
Mail requests to:
Office of the Registrar
College Hall 102
Smith College
Northampton , MA 01063
We will accept a scanned request via email but it must contain the student's signature. Scanned PDF requests can be emailed to registrar@smith.edu. Please note that we are unable to submit transcripts electronically at this time.
As of July 1, 2004 there will
no longer be a fee charged for transcripts.
During the period mid-November through February, requestors should allow 5-10
business days for processing, in addition to mailing transport time. To expedite
processing, you may send a pre-paid overnight or priority envelope (UPS or USPS only. We do not accept envelopes from Fed Ex). Remember,
some overnight services require delivery to a street address only (that is,
no PO Box numbers).
Official copies of transcripts
may be withheld based on outstanding financial
or other obligations to the college.
Further questions may be directed
to the Office of the Registrar at (413) 585-2556 or registrar@smith.edu. |
