Orientation and Arriving on Campus
New student orientation will be held Thursday, August 30 - Wednesday, September 5. Please see the Student Affairs Web site for further information. Readmitted students participating in orientation activities are allowed to return on the 29th as well. Please contact student affairs to make arrangements.
Houses are open for readmitted and returning students beginning on Monday, September 3. Keys will be distributed in the ITT building from 1-5 pm on the 3rd, 1-4pm on Tuesday, September 4, and 10am -2pm on Wednesday, September 5. Please visit the Residence Life Web site for further information about housing.
Those members of teams, organizations or groups required by the college to return prior to the 29th will be notified by the head of their group as to the date they are expected to arrive. If you have any questions concerning early arrival, please contact the Office of Residence Life at (413) 585-4940.
You may not remove furniture from your room; however, if you are interested in having your bed removed prior to your arrival, you should contact Building Services through the Physical Plant customer service number at (413) 585-2400 to have a Bed Removal Request Form mailed to you. You may also complete the form within the first week of fall opening. There is a fee for bed removal.
Central Check-In
CCI for entering students will take place in the ITT:
Wednesday, August 29, 1-4pm
Thursday, August 30, 9-11am
CCI is no longer be required for returning students to attend when they arrive on campus. Returning
students will pick up their keys as usual at the ITT as they arrive (the schedule for key distribution
is noted above). Returning students with outstanding business with any office on campus will need
to contact or stop by those offices as soon as possible upon arriving at Smith.
Opening Convocation
Opening Convocation will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5.
