Congratulations on your decision
to enroll at Smith College. We look forward to meeting you
in September and are very excited to offer you the opportunity
to participate in a trial course selection process. We hope
that this exercise will help familiarize you with our registration
policies and procedures while providing useful information
to your adviser about your academic interests. Since you will be registering on your own after meeting with your adviser in September, it is particilarly important that you have some practice with the system to ensure that your official registration proceeds as smoothly as possible at that time.
The process is outlined below
and the next few pages will explain in more detail the steps
you need to follow to enter your course preferences for the
fall semester online.
- Read the "Preparing for Advising at Smith " section in the Welcome to Smith booklet and
complete the curricular planning worksheet.
- Search for fall courses
using the online catalogue and schedule of classes.
- Review information about departmental
placement tests.
- Study our registration
policies and procedures.
- Complete a trial registration
worksheet for the fall semester.
- Enter your course preferences
on BannerWeb.
It is important that you understand
that this exercise is not official registration;
it is simply an indication of your course preferences. Once
you arrive in September, you will meet with your adviser and
officially register for your courses.
As you work your way through
the following pages, you will find some embedded links that
will refer you to information posted elsewhere on our website.
