STAFF

Director

Catherine McCune, former visiting professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Smith, is the center’s inaugural director. McCune received her doctoral degree in mathematics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She came to Smith College after post-doctoral positions at the Technische Universitaet Berlin and the University of Connecticut at Storrs where she pursued research in the theory of minimal surfaces.

Quantitative Skills Counselor

Karyn Nelson is the center's Quantitative Skills Counselor. Karyn received her B.A. in Environmental Studies and Mathematics from Connecticut College and her M.A. in Physical Geography from Boston University. She also has a G.I.S. certificate from Keene State College. While at Boston University, Karyn was a lab instructor for Physical Geography and GIS courses. Prior to coming to Smith, she was an academic and technical student aide at Wellesley College.

Statistics Counselor

Lacie Barber is the center's Statistics Counselor. Lacie received her B. A. in psychology from University of Missouri-St. Louis and her M. S. (Research) at Saint Louis University. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Saint Louis University, with a minor in Research Methodology and certificate in University Teaching Skills. Before coming to Smith, Lacie taught research methods courses and labs at Fontbonne University and Saint Louis University. She has also worked as a research consultant for numerous organizations, including the American Psychological Association.
