The Spinelli Center for Quantitative Learning will hold a set of eight workshops for those interested in reviewing some basic math skills that should be helpful when studying for the Graduate Record Exams (GRE) or the MTEL (Massachusetts teacher exam for licensure). This is not a GRE or MTEL review, but we will be reviewing topics that are included on the GRE and typically show up on standardized tests. There are no other courses at Smith that cover material that is directly related to the material for the GRE, so this is really the most efficient use of your time if you would like to attend these review workshops. Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00pm The dates and topics are listed below. The workshops will be held in the Spinelli Center on the second level of Neilson Library from 6-8pm on Wednesdays.. Feb 1: Arithmetic I (symbols, types of numbers, factors, order of operations, fractions) Feb 8: Arithmetic II (decimals, ratios, proportions, percents, exponents, roots, absolute value) Feb 15: Algebra I (terms, factoring, linear equations, reverse order of operations, quadratic equations, inequalities) Feb 22: Algebra II (coordinate geometry, slopes, parallel lines, linear equations, simultaneous equations) Feb 29: Geometry I (lines, angles, polygons, triangles, Pythagorean theorem, rectangles) Mar 7: Geometry II (parallelograms, trapezoids, circles, arc length, 3-D solids) Mar 14: Data analysis I (mean, median, counting, frequency, probability, sequences, factorials) Mar 21: SPRING BREAK!!
