Bicycle Thefts 09/30/2009
Public Safety has received a number of reports of bicycle thefts in the past weeks. Most of the bicycles were unlocked when they were stolen. Public Safety recommends taking the following steps to prevent bicycle thefts:
lock your bicycle at all times
- use a strong lock and be sure to lock the frame and wheels to a bicycle rack designed for this person
- register your bicycle with Public Safety; this increases the chances of your bicycle being returned to you should it be stolen
If you are walking on campus and notice someone "hanging out" near a bicycle rack, or attempting to remove a bicycle, please contact Public Safety immediately at x800 or (413) 585-2490 from a cell phone. |
