Three forums were held in February 2008
to consider the question of whether Public Safety officers at Smith College should
be equipped with firearms. As background for these discussions, this package of information
includes the executive summary and conclusions from the report of a consultant who
reviewed this question for Smith in the fall of 2007. Also included are crime statistics
and the results of a phone survey of practices at several other colleges and universities.
