The Smith College Department of Public Safety
is committed to continuing improvement of its abilities, through professional development,
technology and other means, to enhance the quality of life and to protect the lives
and property of the Smith College community. As part of the larger college community,
the Department of Public Safety strives to foster an environment where diversity
is celebrated; where all are made welcome; and where all rights are preserved.
The
Department provides service and police-related responses to requests from the community.
Educational programming, including specialized lectures on a variety of topics, is
designed and presented in order to increase community awareness and to decrease incidents
of crime on campus. Public Safety strives to provide presentations that focus on
proactive crime prevention measures as well as victim education and services.
