We held a planning retreat with the trustees
in late January to gather a sense of their thinking on the most critical issues facing
the college. Next, we will
engage the campus community through a series of seventeen small-group discussions
on campus during February and March.
The discussions are intended to reach all campus constituencies, and will include
meetings open to all as well as meetings targeting particular groups. We have
also established a planning Web site through which individuals can send their observations
on critical issues facing the college.
Our goal is to identify six to eight clearly articulated critical issues by the
end of the spring semester. These issues will serve as the basis for analysis
and data collection over the summer before we turn our attention in the fall to specific
goals and alternative strategies for addressing each critical issue.
