At the end of the year when students move out of their room, everything that they cannot ship home or store somewhere is discarded. Over the years, the college has made a tremendous effort to recycle as much of this material as possible.
- There are additional collections for all of the extra paper left behind.
- There are special collections for computer and electronic equipment left behind.
- Clothing and other personal items are collected and shipped to charitable organizations all over the world via our partner, the Institutional Recycling Network (IRN)..
In order to facilitate the recycling of materials at the end of the year, Physical Plant typically schedules and early clean out event. Students that bring out a bag of paper for recycling or clothing for donation receive a reward for their efforts. Watch for announcements in your house during the Spring semester.
