Accidents
If unfortunately you have an accident, take care of the emergency first. Call Public Safety at Ext. 800 to get medical attention. Notify your supervisor as soon as reasonably possible. Within the next 24 hours please fill out the Accident Report, First Report of Injury and turn it into Human Resources or your supervisor. If for some reason you are unable to fill out this form, the supervisor will submit an intial report or perhaps contact you by telephone to get the information.
Research has shown that, "near misses" (are mishaps where no one is hurt and no damage has been done but almost!) happen five to ten times previously before the actual accident occurs where the employee is hurt or damage occurs. So please report "near misses" so that proper training is provided to prevent an accident or so that more appropriate equipment is used so that an accident does not occur. Use Accident Report, First Report of Injury to report "near misses".
Safety
Safety cannot be emphasized enough. Please use the personal protective equipment that is provide for you. If special equipment is required or recommended for a particular job and it is not available, please contact your supervisor.
