Telephones: Please note all on campus telephone calls only require the last 4 numbers. If calling from off campus or cell phone you will need the area code (413) and prefix-585 then the 4 number extension.
How do I get in contact with a custodian?
During the week, you can contact Physical Plant Customer Service at ext. 2400 Monday through Friday from 7AM - 5PM. Customer Service can also page custodians or contact the supervisor.
After 5PM all calls to Customer Service are forwarded to Public Safety. Public Safety can page the custodian or the supervisor on duty.
On weekends all calls go through Public Safety, ext. 2490. Public Safety is the contact for all emergencies and they can contact the custodians and supervisor on call.
There is a morning shift that starts from 5AM - 1PM, Monday through Friday, , Supervisor, Leigh Buckhout. ext. 2418.
The day shift starts from 7AM - 3PM contact, contact Brett McGuinness, ext. 2419, or Leigh Buckhout ext. 2418, Monday through Friday.
The evening custodians can be paged through Public Safety or contact the supervisor, Art Usher 3:30PM - 11:30PM, Monday through Friday at ext. 2466.
On the weekends, holidays and evenings, contact Public Safety at ext. 2490. Public Safety can page the custodian or supervisor on duty. You can also email the supervisors or call and leave a message..

How do I request work to be done?
Put in a work request either by email at ppsvcreq@smith.edu or contact your department liaison. In several of the academic and administrative buildings there are clipboards on the custodial closet where you can write in your non-emergency request there. In the Residences you can write request for non-emergencies on the Yellow Sheets on the door of the Head Resident's room or let your housekeeper know.
How do I reserve a space on campus for an event or request equipment for a special event.?

I’ve been moved to another office in the Academic or Administrative building. How do I request assistance with office moves?
Put in a work order with Physical Plant Customer Service (ext. 2400) or ppsvcreq@smith.edu. There are guidelines to follow for moves between buildings. Go to: Office moves and Trucking. Students are expected to move their own belongings.
