Doreen Weinberger's field of interest is optical physics; in particular nonlinear optics and optical fibers.
Weinberger arrived at Smith College in 1991 after seven years in the Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan. She is delighted to get back to her roots, both in physics, and in the Five College area (she got her undergraduate degree at Mount Holyoke College).
In her spare time, Weinberger loves tennis, squash, hiking, and cross-country skiing, and one of these days she hopes to start playing guitar regularly again.
