John M. Connolly

John Connolly's research interests are in medieval philosophy (especially Meister Eckhart), philosophy of mind, Wittgenstein, contemporary German philosophy, philosophical hermeneutics, and issues of academic freedom and tolerance. He has taught courses in all of these areas, and also in the history of philosophy.

He spent a decade in the college administration
(1992-2002), then returned to Dewey Hall and full-time teaching before retiring in 2014.

His book, Living Without Why: Meister Eckhart's Critique of the Medieval Concept of Will, was published by Oxford University Press in July 2014.
