Andrew Lambert holds a BA in social and political studies from the University of Sheffield and an MA in philosophy from Durham University in the UK. He is completing his doctoral dissertation at the University of Hawaii, specializing in early Confucian thought.
He is a former Japanese Government Mombusho Scholar at the University of Kyoto, Japan, and a former visiting scholar at Peking University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests include the ethical status of friendship, and the relation between care ethics and Confucianism.
He is also committed to introducing the work of contemporary Chinese philosophers to an English-language audience and has translated various articles dealing with Confucian thought. He is currently working on a translation and critical commentary on the philosopher Tang Junyi.
