Nolen Art Lounge
Walking into the Nolan Art Lounge in the Campus Center, your first impression is always of space and light. The glass walls make the room feel airy and open; you can see everything happening in the Campus Center as well as inside to the art and ideas on the walls. This is a place of possibilities. The Nolan Art Lounge is a place for students to come together for intellectual reflection and play.
The space is curated by a student program assistant in the Office of Student Engagement. Over the years the space has held exhibitions such as the International Photo Contest sponsored by the Office for International Study, landscape studies exhibitions, student art exhibits, student film screenings, spontaneous art nights, dance performances and alumnae artist exhibitions. The possibilities are endless.
A wide range of groups have chosen to collaborate with the Art Lounge, from student organizations wishing to reach out to different members of the campus community, to individual artists looking for a central space to show their work. The flexibility of the space, with its adjustable lighting, moving walls and free-standing pedestals allows us to constantly change the look of the Art Lounge as well as accommodate many different artistic mediums including two dimensional drawings or paintings and three dimensional sculpture and pottery.
