For Juniors
During their junior year, students have the opportunity to practice their leadership skills whether on campus or abroad. It is a time for students to immerse themselves in a more rigorous leadership position in their house or student organization. Junior year is a time for students to initiate grassroots change, enhance their leadership portfolio and refine their personal definition of leadership.
Junior Leadership Opportunities
In addition to Junior Ushers, Junior Year @ Smith and the numerous campus-wide programs offered throughout the year, these opportunities were specifically designed with juniors in mind:
- Student organization expanded leadership role
- Apply through Student Government Association (SGA) for a committee appointment, run for vice president, treasurer, diversity chair, House President Association (HPA) chair, Organization Resources Committee (ORC) chair, Judicial Board, honor board secretary
- Be involved in residence life by becoming an House Coordinator (HC), House Community Advisor (HCA) or Head Resident (HR)
- Become involved in athletics through Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), athletic association, club sport officer, outdoor adventure workers/interns, team captain
- Get involved with the house as a Head Of New Students (HONS), social chair, health, Community Service Office (CSO) representative or a House President (HP)
- Become a student academic adviser, participate in Collaborations, professional conferences, Smith Elects the World, serve as a departmental liaisons or a tutor
- Take part in leadership training through the Student Leadership Program, CSO training, athletics first-year panels, residence life training, house governance training, SGA training, job training, a Women & Financial Independence program or the Women's Narratives program
- Get involved in service through Gold Key, Orientation Leader, Smith College Emergency Medical Services (SCEMS), community engagement project, CSO house rep, CSO board, Care internship or a community outreach coordinator
