Part of what I am most grateful to the CC for has always been the opportunity to meet and spend time with new people. I truly believe that the relationships we develop with our fellow employees are what allow us to work as a cohesive team. When we are all aware of our common mission, we recognize the importance of teamwork and are better able to efficiently and successfully fulfill our duties. A job at the CC is more than a paycheck; it is a venue for learning, friendship and growth.
While serving on two committees that discussed and dreamed the possibility of a Campus Center, it was a celebratory occasion to open the Campus Center in August 2003! It was very clear that students, faculty, staff and alumnae wanted a central building on campus where community members could gather in confortable surroundings and have the opportunity to have quality food and service. Prior to the Campus Center, the college had a small snack bar at Davis Student Center and I still have alums inform me that they never frequented Davis Center, especially if they lived in the quad.
I remain thrilled to have been a part of the planning and programming and still get excited when we have college wide events in the Campus Center. It truly provides a vibrant space for all.
