Valley Native Returns Home to Perform

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.-Northampton native Alicia Edelberg, associate concertmaster and violinist for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center, will be in town Thursday, May 23, to a give a free public concert at her alma mater, Smith College, at 8 p.m. in Earle Recital Hall, Sage Hall.


Accompanied by her former professor, pianist Monica Jakuc, Edelberg will perform Debussy's "Sonata for Violin and Piano" and Fritz Kreisler's "Praeludium and Allegro."


The daughter of emeritus associate physician of Smith College Dr. Herman Edelberg of Northampton and the late Dr. Eileen Edelberg, Edelberg is in Northampton to celebrate her 30th class reunion at Smith. A music major while at Smith, Edelberg studied with violinist Philipp Naegele, William R. Kenan Professor Emeritus of Music.
