Jewish and Muslim Students Invite Public to
Join Vigil for Peace

In response to the escalation of violence, death and dislocation in the Middle East, student leaders at Smith College have called for the campus and community-at-large to join them in a candlelight vigil for peace at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at Helen Hills Hills Chapel.

Organized by the Jewish organization Hillel and the Muslim organization Al Iman, and joined by students from other faiths and traditions, a contemplative procession will march from the steps of the chapel along Elm Street to Duckett Hall.

At 4:30 p.m. at Duckett, there will be traditional prayers and serving of food in observance of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

All are welcome to participate.

For more information on the event, call Donna Ingalls at (413) 587-8999 or Jenny Siegel at (413) 585-4737.
