Board Approves Tenure and Promotion Recommendations

At its March meeting, the Smith College Board of Trustees approved tenure and promotion recommendations for 17 faculty members.

Promoted to full professor from associate professor were Dawn Fulton, French studies; Velma Garcia, government; Ambreen Hai, English language and literature; Nicholas Howe, computer science; Alexandra Keller, film studies; Sabina Knight, comparative literature; Kevin Quashie, Afro-American studies; Andrew Rotman, religion; Lynne Yamamoto, art; and Byron Zamboanga, psychology.

Promoted to associate professor with tenure from assistant professor were Fernando Armstrong-Fumero, anthropology; Malcolm McNee, Spanish and Portuguese; Julianna Tymoczko, mathematics and statistics; Joel Westerdale, German studies; and Hye-Kyung Kang from the Smith College School for Social Work.

Promoted to senior lecturer were Silvia Berger, Spanish and Portuguese, and Atsuko Takahashi, East Asian languages and literatures.
