If you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed, the Grécourt Gate news site has a new look—but it’s not just a redesign. Production of the Gate has moved to a database-driven content management system, or CMS.
The technology behind the Gate has moved from hand-coded, static pages to layouts organized by templates and content maintained in a database. This new system, based on the WordPress platform, will facilitate visitor interactivity with the ability to easily share and comment on content (you may do so below), integration with social media and more. The layout is a new, wider design, but the pages are now responsive, automatically adjusting content for desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
As a result of this migration, you may notice that some elements have moved; for example, the “toolbox” tabs for the Smith directory, email and other frequently used items, now appear at the top right of the page. In this transitional phase, you may also find some broken links or bookmarks that no longer work.
Please let us know of any problems by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for opening the Gate!
