Last year, they sang “Salutamu!” Next year, “Dobredyen.”

The Smith College Alumnae Chorus, which spent 10 days in Sicily last summer, combining forces with a Sicilian orchestra and men’s choir, will travel to Russia and the Baltic states for its summer 2013 international concert tour.

The Alumnae Chorus comprises alumnae from all the college’s singing groups, including Glee Club, Chorus and Chamber Singers, from classes dating back to 1947. The 2013 trip is open to any Smith alumna, as well as friends and family. Registration ends September 1, 2012. To register, visit the Alumnae Chorus Web site.

Under the baton of Jonathan Hirsh, director of orchestral and choral activities, the Alumnae Chorus will make stops in Riga, Latvia; Talinn, Estonia; and St. Petersburg, Russia, during a tour from June 21 to July 2, 2013.

Participants will have a chance to explore the major historic and cultural sites of each destination––both Riga and Tallinn have medieval city centers that have been named UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and St. Petersburg is popularly known as the “Venice of the North”––in addition to singing two concerts with local men’s choirs and orchestras.
