Got
Work? Crew Team Rowers Available for Hire
It's fall. Chances are you
have leaves to rake, or a house that needs
cleaning or winterizing. Maybe you need someone to watch
the kids while you do chores, or someone to walk the dog.
Whatever household chore you
have, Smith Crew is here to help.
Through
Rent-a-Rower, a Smith crew team fundraiser in its third
year, team members are available for hire for odd jobs, on
Sunday, Oct. 30, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5 and 6,
or by appointment.
It's easy: hire two rowers
for two hours for $50, for painting, gardening, raking,
shoveling, moving furniture, organizing, babysitting—whatever
you need.
To hire your personal team,

Funds raised through the program
will go toward the crew team’s annual spring break
trip to the Gainesville (Georgia) Olympic course. The trip
allows rowers to practice in a warmer climate while strengthening
team bonds, says Klinger, and provides an essential opportunity
for the team to train in the spring.
“We start racing the weekend
after spring break, so the ability to row and not worry about
temperatures or river flooding for that week really helps,"
Klinger said. "Every moment, every stroke on the water
counts.”
Funds raised through Rent-a-Rower
also help pay for racing shells. The crew team combines the
proceeds with those from other fundraisers, including its
annual Ergathon.
"People can support these
student athletes while getting something for their money,"
said Klinger. "It really helps us provide them with
a good experience, and the students have fun meeting people
in the Smith and local communities." |
