Following
major renovations during the past year, the Center for Media
Production will welcome the Smith community with an open
house on Thursday, Sept. 22.
Located in the lower level of
the Alumnae Gymnasium, the Center for Media Production invites
all to stop by between 3 and 5 p.m., tour the new facility,
and enter raffles of high-quality media equipment.
Raffle drawings will take place
every half hour between 3 and 5 p.m. Items raffled include
a Flip Mini HD cam, an iPad 1, and two Edirol R-09 digital
audio recording devices.
As part of a three-year re-organization
of Educational Technology Services (ETS), the Center for
Media Production (CMP) was renovated and repositioned to
support a variety of media projects and productions, said
Joanne Cannon, assistant director of ETS.
“Most people know that they can borrow media equipment and learn to use it,” said
Cannon, “but are unaware that they can also use our facilities and expertise
to create their own academic media productions.”
The CMP hosts a digital media
lab, an audio recording booth, media duplication stations,
sound and video studio, and a video conferencing room.
Recent
renovations include a redone lobby area and digital video
lab, and the creation of a digital audio recording booth
and a self-serve conversion/duplication booth. |
