Folk Duo to Perform Nearby on First Tour

of Hannah & Maggie playing "Things We'll Never Know." |
Since their song “Things We’ll
Never Know” won first place in last year’s Lilith Local Talent
Search (New York region), folk singers/songwriters Hannah
Hickok ’11 and Maggie Kraus ’12 haven’t looked back.
The
duo released their debut album, Fine
Being Here, earlier
this year and are embarking on their first tour this week
to promote the album, hitting 10 cities throughout the Northeast
in a two-week span. The tour begins Friday, Aug. 19, in Maplewood,
N.J. and ends on September 1 at The Barn at Hamilton College,
Clinton, N.Y.
As part of the tour, , as they
call themselves, will perform near Smith when they take the
stage of the Cellar Bar in Easthampton on Friday, Aug. 26,
sharing the bill with Northampton band The Sun Parade.
Stops
in New York City, Mystic, Conn., Providence, R.I., Burlington,
Vt., and Ithaca, N.Y., will round out the tour.
“Hopefully, this will be our first of many tours as a duo,” says Maggie, who
will return to Smith for her final year following the tour. Since graduating
in May, Hannah has relocated to Manhattan, N.Y.
Hannah & Maggie began when the
two Sessions House mates got together to play guitar and
sing. They found that their voices and musical sensibilities
meshed well and wrote their first song together, “Things
We’ll Never
Know.”
Hannah & Maggie plan to get to
work on a second album in the coming year. Watch for them on
tour again next year to promote that album. Meanwhile, catch
them in Easthampton Aug. 26. |
