Local students lined
the lanes of the Indoor Track and Tennis facility (ITT)
running track on April 19 with 18,000 plastic bags tied
together, then rolled the bags into a massive ball. The
students' sculpture is their way of demonstrating the
over-use of plastic bags and their negative impact on
the Earth's environment. They will roll their bag ball
ceremoniously through Northampton, ending downtown, on
Saturday, April 23, in honor of Earth Day (April 22).
