Day 2010 at Smith
Residents of Morrow House teamed
up to clean refuse off the banks of Paradise Pond last week
in an effort to beautify the pride of the Smith campus (see
pictures below). The students' effort appropriately
foreshadowed the annual Earth Day, an international event
that promotes appreciation for and awareness of our planet's
environmental health.
Earth Day is this Thursday,
April 22. Smith joins in every year with
own its daylong lineup of activities.
This year, check Chapin Lawn
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for campus representatives from building
services, the Center for the Environment, Ecological Design,
and Sustainability (CEEDS), SGA, dining services, Bike Kitchen,
Smith Community Garden, the college's Sustainability Committee
and Green Team, who will offer information
about what you can do to help improve the environment. Watch
demonstrations of bicycle-powered generators, a solar cooker,
and more. Also, meet the women of Morrow House who helped
beautify Paradise.
It's all about Earth.
