SAQ Takes Bronze Medal

The Smith Alumnae Quarterly (SAQ) received a bronze medal in the CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) 2009 Circle of Excellence Awards Program. The magazine, which is sent to all alumnae of Smith, won in the College and University General Interest Magazines category.

It is the magazine’s 17th award for excellence in 15 years.

“We’re extremely proud,” said John MacMillan, the SAQ editor. “A lot of thought and care goes into each issue, and we’re thrilled to be chosen among the best alumni magazines in the country.”

Other institutions that received awards this year included Princeton, Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame, Carleton College, and Middlebury College.

This year marks the SAQ's 100th anniversary. A special issue in December will showcase a century's worth of content and include reflections on various aspects of women's history from several alumnae, including Gloria Steinem ’56, Catharine MacKinnon ’69, and Sally Quinn ’63, among others.
