Monitor Pledge Drive
The Million
Monitor Pledge Drive is Smith’s response to the Environmental
Protection Agency’s challenge to educational institutions
nationwide to reduce energy use by setting computer monitors
to a power-saving “sleep mode.”
Smith is competing
in the drive against Amherst and Mount Holyoke colleges to
sign up as many pledges as possible by November 22. to set your computer and take the pledge. Prizes
will be awarded to the college with the highest percentage
of students signed up. Also, prizes will be given to the three
residences at Smith with the highest percentage of pledges.
And Clean Energy for Smith will get a reward if 75 percent
of more of all students sign the pledge by Thanksgiving Break.
Smith College
is currently leading the three-school Million Monitor Drive
competition with more than 1,200 student pledges, 66 percent
of its goal of 1800.
Park House has
a slim lead in Smith's inter-house competition with almost
90 percent of its residents signed up. Hopkins comes in a
close second with nearly 89 percent. Lawrence House comes
in third with 63 percent.
