Lecture Series

MUX 118 History and Critical Issues of Museums

This 2-credit course will meet during the fall semester on Wednesdays, 7:30 to 9 p.m., in Graham Hall in the Brown Fine Arts Center.

Through a series of lectures by Smith faculty and guests, this course examines institutions that shape knowledge and understanding through the collection, preservation, interpretation, and display of material culture.

It is offered S/NC only and is required for the Museums Concentration. Three short papers and weekly readings related to the speakers' topics are required.
