Georgetown University's Summer Program in Islamic Studies, Development, and
Democracy at the English Language, Al-Akhawayn University (AUI) in Ifrane
Morocco will open in Summer 2008.
The two courses are Islam and Democracy
and Development in Theory in Practice. The two courses have been approved
for direct Georgetown University credit. The course runs from July 1st until
the end of July. The students have the option of taking a session of
intensive Arabic at AUI during the month of June by applying directly to
their Summer Arabic program. During the Georgetown-AUI program there will be
an optional hour a day of Modern Standard or Moroccan Arabic. Weekend
cultural trips and visits to development sights are planned. There will be
an introduction to Moroccan society and culture at the beginning of the
program. The application deadline online has been extended to March 3, 2008:

Some scholarship support is available. Students from any university are
eligible to apply and transfer the Georgetown credit and receive scholarship
