Itsik Pariente teaches modern Hebrew at Smith and Mt. Holyoke. He was born and raised in Israel by parents who immigrated to Israel from North Africa. Itsik has an M.A in Hebrew linguistics from Tel Aviv University. He is currently completing a PhD in linguistics at Amsterdam University. Prior to coming to Smith, Itsik taught Hebrew at Eӧtvӧs Loránd University in Budapest. He is excited to teach students the ways in which a language is key to a culture.
