CARREL POLICIES

  • If you leave items checked out to yourself in your carrel, they remain your responsibility until they are checked in.
  • Books left in your carrel that are not checked out and stamped with a current due date will be removed and reshelved daily. If you renew items, record the new due date on them.
  • Items left in unreserved carrels will be collected and reshelved on a daily basis
Periodicals and reference books will be collected on a daily basis
  • You are free to leave items in your carrel, but be aware that the library is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen. Thefts or removal of unattended items do occur. This includes library books checked out to you and any personal belongings such as textbooks, personal notes, reading lamps, pictures, etc.
  • Whenever you are not using your carrel, anyone is free to use it. If someone is using it, you may ask them to move. If you encounter any problems with this, see the Circulation Desk staff for assistance. Posting your schedule will cause less interruption for users.
  • If any items are left in your carrel that are not yours, please bring them to the collection trucks located near the elevator or leave them in the shelving areas at the end of the section.
  • You may have food at your carrel while you are working but please remove all food when you leave the library. Food left in your carrel will be removed.
  • Misuse of the carrel may result in the loss of carrel privileges.
