American Memory: Historical Collections for the National Digital Library
Library of Congress

National Archives and Records Administration
An independent federal agency that preserves historical documents. Of note is the National Archiv es Online Exhibit Hall where documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constituion and the Bill of Rights, as well as the Louisiana Purchase, a police report of Lincoln's assasination and Nixon's resignation can be viewed. Also included are fascinating posters from WWII, images of Chicago in the 1970s, art works, photos and more.
