Important reminder for Smith College School for Social Work students: When you arrive at your placement, be sure to ask whether your agency has its own library or whether it can arrange library privileges for you at an area library. If not, then use the listing(s) below to identify area libraries and their policies regarding access and borrowing. Note that all policies described below are subject to change.

The information below is provided for Smith College School for Social Work students. The policies listed do not necessarily apply to other researchers.

You are welcome to use the collection. For weekday access after 6pm and on weekends, apply for a visitor's card. For borrowing privileges, join the Friends of the Library at the Donor level ($250/yr). You will not be eligible to use the interlibrary loan service.

You are welcome to use the collection. For borrowing, purchase a courtesy card for $50/year. You may borrow up to five books at any one time. Smith may be able to negotiate a lower fee (via a letter of introduction), but the number of books you may borrow at a time will also be reduced. You will not be eligible to use the interlibrary loan service.

You are welcome to use the collection Monday - Friday. You must present your Smith College ID card and sign in the visitors' log. You may arrange in advance for evening or weekend use by calling the reference desk. For borrowing, you may purchase a courtesy card for $200/6 months or $400/year. For the 6-month card, you will need a letter of introduction. Contact Pamela Skinner (pskinner@smith.edu) for a letter of introduction from the Smith College Libraries. The letter will include your address, local phone number and social security number, so please provide these when you contact her. No letter is required for the year-long card. Neither card offers interlibrary loan privileges or access to restricted databases.
