SSW Placement: New York

Using libraries near your placement -  tips for SSW students:

  • Remember that you have broad access to Smith library resources and services.  We can meet most of your needs.
  • If you want to use another library, find the listing below or search LibWeb for more options
  • Before visiting, contact the library in advance for information about access, borrowing and on-site use.  Policies vary widely.
  • Questions?  Email neilref@smith.edu

NOTE: Library access, especially in metropolitan New York can be expensive, if not impossible. If needed, ask about a Metro referral card at one of these public libraries: New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library, Queensborough Public Library, or one of the libraries in the Westchester Library System. The Metro referral card will offer you access to selected academic libraries and will bypass access fees. (Metro referral cards don't carry borrowing privileges, FYI.) Check the metro directory at www.metro.org to see if the cards are accepted at the library you wish to use and contact the library in advance for current regulations.
