Print & Media Reserves Guidelines
Deadlines Lists are processed in the order received. Late lists may not be ready when classes begin.
Books, DVDs, CDs, etc. Materials belonging to Smith may be placed on reserve and included on your reserve list.
Journal Articles The libraries prefer to make articles available on e-reserve in Moodle whenever possible, rather than keeping entire issues/volumes on the reserve shelf. To place an entire periodical issue or volume on reserve, please speak to library staff.
Syllabi To help students find materials easily, please give call numbers for items on reserve and note which items are on electronic reserve on your syllabi.

 

Materials not Owned by Smith
Ordering Materials

Please order needed reserve materials at least 10 weeks in advance. Library Order Form.

On your reserve list, please clearly indicate any items you have ordered. If necessary, reserve staff will submit orders and charge them to your departmental fund.
Five College Items If an item is out of print, on order, or unobtainable, reserve staff may arrange to borrow from a Five College Library for part of the semester. Please consult with reserves staff regarding use of Five College DVDs and videos.
Personal Copies Please use discretion in providing fragile,valuable or irreplaceable personal copies for reserve. The libraries cannot guarantee their security or condition. You may provide personal copies of videos for reserve if they are copyright compliant.
