The Plagiarism Challenge is excerpted from a larger exercise developed by Holly Davis of the Smith College Jacobson Center. The Information Literacy Team thanks Holly for permission to use this quiz as a part of the Smith College Information Literacy Program. This exercise is a ten-question series of scenarios which requires students to distinguish plagiarism from those occasions in which citation is not necessary. All writing intensive faculty are encouraged to assign students in their classes to take this quiz in addition to the required Writing Intensive Quiz also offered on this course website. Students may take the Plagiarism Challenge as many times as necessary to get a perfect score... However grades earned in this exercise are not intended to affect a student’s writing intensive course grade. If you are teaching a writing intensive course and would like to review the Plagiarism Challenge simply log on to Moodle and look for LIB 106, Research Skills. Other faculty wishing to review the quiz should contact a member of the Information Literacy Team (see below). QUESTIONS Please direct all questions to Bruce Sajdak, Chair, Information Literacy Team, (413)585-2967, bsajdak@email.smith.edu.
