Neilson Library offers wireless printing for the Smith community. Windows laptop users on Smith's wireless network may send a print job from anywhere on campus. Jobs stay in the print system for 2 hours.
Requirements
- Smith username and password (Smith Network)
- Wireless network card
- Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7

| 1. Download the appropriate printer driver to the desktop |

| 2. Double click the icon on your desktop to install the printer drivers |
| 3. Click Finish when the install is complete. You are now ready to print from your laptop. |

4. Activate 2-sided printing:
- Go to the Start Menu, Settings, and then Printers and Faxes (in Windows 7 it's called Devices and Printers)
- Right click on Mair 930-B (B&W) or Mair-Color-R on LIBPS1 (for color) and choose Properties (in Windows 7 choose Printer Properties)
- Go to the Device Option tab (color printer: Device Settings)
- In the middle of the window see Change settings for: Duplex Module (color printer: look for Installable Options)
- Click that drop-down and change to Available from Not Available (color printer: under Installable Options click on Duplex Unit; if it shows as Not Installed, click on Not Installed and choose Installed from the drop-down)
- Click Apply
- Click OK to exit

How to Print
- Go to the Print menu for the item you want to print.
- In the printer name menu, select Mair 930-B (B&W) or Mair-Color-R on LIBPS1 (for color)
- For 2-sided printing, click on the Properties or Preferences button.
- Select the Setup tab (color printer: select Printing Shortcuts tab)
- Under 2-sided printing, select Long Edge or Short Edge (color printer: select 2-Sided (Duplex) Printing)
- Click OK
- For PDFs, click on the Advanced button and make sure Print As Image is checked.
- After adjusting your print settings, click OK on the main print screen.
- At the Print Job Details pop-up, enter your Smith Network username.
- Note: Jobs stay in the print system for 2 hours.
- Go to Print Release Station B (Black & White) or Print Release Station C (Color), Mair Room, Neilson Library, Level 1 West.
- At the release station, login with your Smith Network username and password.
- Swipe your OneCard or print card.
- Click on the job you want to print. To select multiple jobs, hold down the shift key and click.
- Click the print button at the bottom of the screen.
- Pick up your printouts from the adjacent printer(s).
Limitations
- You can send a wireless print job from anywhere on campus, but you can only retrieve jobs in Neilson Library. Jobs stay in the print system for only 2 hours.
- Wireless printing is not available for Mac and Linux laptops.
How To Tell If Windows is 32-Bit or 64-Bit
Windows 7 or Windows Vista

Open System by clicking the Start button (Mircorosft icon), right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties

Under System, you can view the system type
Windows XP

Click Start.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties

If you don't see "x64 Edition" listed, then you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP
