Wireless & Network Access
Wireless Internet Access
The Smith College Libraries support wireless in Neilson Library (all floors, but access may vary by location), Hillyer Art Library, Josten Performing Arts Library, and Young Science Library. Please see a service desk for instructions on how to connect.
Smith Users
Use your Smith College Novell account (available to Smith College faculty, staff, and students and to Five College students enrolled in a course at Smith) to login.
Five College Users
Wireless access to the Smith network is not a currently supported service. Individual IT departments are not set up to troubleshoot problems. However, you may try the steps below:
- Five College users: use home institution email address and password to login.
- UMass Amherst users: remove the status and/or department code in your email address: e.g. username@umass.edu
Wireless Printing
Neilson Library offers wireless printing to Windows laptop users on Smith's wireless network from anywhere on campus.
Dataports
- Patrons are welcome to bring laptops to the Libraries and use electrical outlets.
- Laptops are also available for loan to Smith students, staff, and faculty at the Neilson Library Circulation desk.
- Plug-in access to the Smith network and internet is available in several locations for Smith and Five College students. Look for the small black "igloos" or use the top port in the jack on the wall or in a carrel.

Call the ITS User Support Center at (413) 585-4487. Wireless network access for Five College users is not currently supported by ITS. The Help Desk does not have the tools necessary to troubleshoot problems from the Smith campus.
