If you are unable to locate an item
in the stacks, please follow these steps:
- Look up the item in the Five
College Library Catalog, and make sure that the status says "available".
Also check the location and call number to make sure that you are looking
in the right place and in the right library - see library
locations.
- In Neilson Library, check the
shelving area on the floor where the items should be. Shelving areas
are located either at the beginning or far end of each stack location.
Books that have been recently returned may be here awaiting shelving.
- If you still have not found the
item, inquire in person at the service
desk in the appropriate library, and fill out a "Missing Book
Form" if needed.
- Circulation staff will search
for the missing book and notify you of the item's status.
- If Smith's copy is ultimately
declared missing and there is another copy of the book in the Five
College Library Catalog, registered Smith and Five College patrons
may request it using the "Request Item" function in the catalog
- see Requesting Five College materials.
