Updaing Your Borrower Account

Whether you use a Smith OneCard or Smith-issued library card, the information in your library borrower account is unique to the Libraries. A staff member at any of our service desks can update or correct your account information and answer questions about borrowing cards and fines and bills.

CONTACT A SERVICE DESK IF...             [Service Desk Contacts]

You have moved, changed your email address, or changed your phone number.

You may change your contact information as often as needed to make sure we can notify you in the most direct and timely way.

You prefer to use an alternative to the email account assigned by the college.

For Smith College students, faculty, and staff, the college-assigned email address (e.g. ssmith@email.smith.edu) is entered in your borrower account at the beginning of each academic year. Unless you contact us to remove or change your default email address, overdue and recall messages will be sent to this address automatically.

You prefer to receive paper notices instead of email.

You will receive notices by email unless you request paper notification.

You encounter problems requesting items from UMass.

You may need to have your borrower information entered or updated in the UMass database, which is separate from the Four College database.

You are a Smith College alum or affiliate and your card has expired, or you have recently graduated and wish to set up an alum borrower account.

In general, Smith faculty, students, staff, affiliates and alumnae are eligible for the Smith OneCard. Other Smith borrowers may be issued Smith library cards. Unaffiliated borrowers may purchase borrowing privileges for Neilson and Young Science libraries. Other Five College borrowers use identification issued by their home institutions.

You registered late, or entered in January.

You will need to have a borrower account created for you. Bring your Smith OneCard to any of the service desks to have a borrower account set up.

For specific questions, please contact the appropriate library service desk.
