How to Find School for Social Work Theses

Connect to the Five College Library Catalog Basic Search.

Enter the following keywords connected by the word "and":

See examples below.

You can also search by author or title if known.

Use the truncation symbol * to find variations on a term (plural, etc.).

Use connectors - "and" to narrow your search; "or" to expand it.

Use quotation marks to search for a phrase, e.g. "managed care".

Use parentheses to combine more than 2 search terms.

Remember to add smith and social work and thesis to your search string.

To Search For:	Enter (keyword search):
SSW theses on countertransference	countertransference and smith and social work and thesis
on adoption	("foster care" or adopt*) and smith and social work and thesis
on a particular population or groups	("Alaska native" or Eskimo*) and smith and social work and thesis

Modify Search: You can modify your search to limit by year of publication or other criteria.
Note the call number and go to level 2 north in Neilson Library.
Recent theses (2007 to present) are available online. Click on the link that says Access limited to the Smith College community.
Most online theses are available by clicking on the View/Open link toward the bottom of the screen.
Restricted theses require a Smith Network username and password. Follow these steps: Under Choose a Login Method, click on Smith network username and password Enter your Smith College Network username and password, then click Login

Note the call number and location. Theses in Neilson Library are shelved on level 2 north.

Smith College Digital Honors Theses & Projects (2008+) are available online, but are Restricted requiring a Smith Network username and password. See access instructions above.

Select the Advanced search tab in the Five College Library Catalog.

Enter subject keywords in the top box.

Then Select Limits:
